The curse of Stuart Park at North Wollongong as a venue for major music events has struck again.
After wet weather forced several concert cancellations in the past, and created havoc for Yours and Owls, sparking a search for new venues in the city, this Sunday’s show headlined by legendary American rockers ZZ Top has had to relocate.

Wollongong City Council today confirmed the all-day festival will now be staged at Thomas Dalton Park at Fairy Meadow.
Ironically, the national tour is called the ‘Red Hot Summer Tour’. Before performing in Wollongong, ZZ Top and a stellar line-up that also includes George Thorogood and The Destroyers are performing in the Hunter Valley.
Steady rain during the last week of April has left Stuart Park badly waterlogged, forcing the event organisers to look for a new location at the last minute.
In a statement, Wollongong City Council said it had "been working with organisers of the Red Hot Summer Tour concert that is scheduled to be held in Wollongong this weekend".
"Due to recent wet conditions that have impacted grassed areas of parks and sports fields across the city, the Red Hot Summer Tour organisers have opted to move their event this Sunday to Thomas Dalton Park (the area behind the playing fields) where the site is less impacted by the weather and is easily accessible to concertgoers," a Council spokesperson said.
"Council is working with organisers to facilitate a smooth transition to the alternative location. We encourage concertgoers to consider utilising public transport to the venue, with Fairy Meadow Train Station and stops on the free Gong Shuttle within walking distance."
This morning the bump-in was well underway in drizzly conditions at Thomas Dalton Park just 48 hours from the first acts taking to the stage.
Fencing has been erected around the perimeter and portaloos and staging has started arriving on site.
Sunday’s show will also feature vintage Aussie bands, The Living End, Baby Animals and Rose Tattoo.
The weekend forecast is for no rain and maximum temperatures of 21 (Saturday) and 23 degrees (Sunday).
