By Lauren Mitsak of Stanwell Park Arts Theatre
Peter and the Wolf and radio play The Case of the Haunted Chateau were a resounding success, with both plays complementing each other. Peter and the Wolf broke new ground in collaborating with the 12-piece orchestra and the CEO of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music is keen to work with SPAT in future.
Sally Wilson taught SPAT members the art of shadow puppetry and there is no doubt we will use this new skill in future productions.
The radio play was loads of fun, showcasing English, French and American accents, live sound effects and the 1944 Petri Wine ads that accompanied the play. I am sure future radio plays will feature in the SPAT repertoire.
Christmas Panto is cast
Twelve Hours to Christmas – co-written by Christine Higgins and Rachael Kiddier and directed by father/daughter duo Tom and Katie Peach – is now in rehearsal.
They had a great turnout at both auditions and the play is now fully cast. Multi-talented Catherine Rostrum is once again the piano accompanist and our versatile Rod Lander is training the singers to get the best out of their voices.
The panto is the perfect platform for new members to try their hand at singing and acting or behind the curtain roles and this year it has certainly attracted some wonderful new talent, who are all super excited to be involved.
Performance dates are December 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14.
