Chamber wins $120k grant for SeaCliff Coast project
Everything old is new again as the Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce revives a much-loved regional name for its Uptown Grant project
In June 2026, the NSW State Government announced that the Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce (NICC) had been approved for $120,000 in funding as part of Round 4 of the Uptown Grant Program, which helps business communities (aka district teams) to develop their areas into vibrant going-out hubs.
The pitch: "SeaCliff Coast introduces a fresh district identity inspired by the internationally recognised SeaCliff Bridge, the gateway to the region. Connecting venues Clifton to Coledale the initiative will establish a coastal trail supported by seasonal SeaCliff Sessions showcasing local creative talent."
Who's in the team: The SeaCliff team is a sub-committee of NICC that includes The Imperial at Clifton, Scarborough Hotel, Wombarra Bowling Club, Coledale RSL, Earth Walker & Co, WorkLife Coledale, Capital Good, Good Chat and Electrify 2515.
What's funded: The grant will be spent on SeaCliff Coast destination identity and marketing, seasonal multi-venue programming, transport and connectivity trials and district coordination and collaboration.
The budget includes $10,000 for NICC, which will provide project governance and oversight, and $20,000 for district coordination by WorkLife (owner Kate Dezarnaulds and manager Charlotte Reid will be responsible for the precinct coordination, business engagement, project delivery and grant administration) and Capital Good (founder Jamie Madden will lead the creative, branding, programming and communications work). Jamie is a director of the Scarborough Wombarra Bowling Club.
NICC's president is accountant Joanna Stuart. The group holds regular networking events. For more information or to join, visit the website.
