Need some inspiration on what to read next? Take a look at what our booksellers are enjoying on the new Staff Picks shelves at the front of the bookstore! And at the back of the store we have our Kids for Kids display of reviews and recommendations from avid local young readers.

As for your events calendar, this March we’re hosting a whopping four events.

• Wednesday March 1: We have a great surf-themed evening! Headlining the event are Tricia Schantz and Rusty Miller with their book Neverland: American and Australian Surfers in Byron Bay 1960s & 1970s. We’re also launching the new local zine Baseless Surf Theory and there will be live music from Dirty Suits (Lounge Version).

• Friday March 10: Local authors Bronwyn Carlson and Terri Farrelly will be discussing Monumental Disruptions, their fascinating new book investigating the place of colonial memorials in today’s Australia.

• Saturday March 11: Local author Rachael Mogan McIntosh is launching her very entertaining travelogue Pardon My French, which charts her family’s sabbatical in rural France.

• Wednesday March 29: Saul Griffith will discuss his contribution to Quarterly Essay 89: On Electrification and Community Renewal, a must-read for anyone interested in the Electrify 2515 project.

Keep an eye out for news of the launch of the much-anticipated new YA novel from local author Helena Fox in early April! We’re very excited about this one.
