Keiraville CWA show how seasonal eating helps create a sustainable food future

By Marion Cook, publicity officer for Keiraville CWA

As part of September's Country Women's Association (CWA) Awareness Week, the Keiraville Branch put the spotlight on seasonal and sustainable food in a display at Corrimal Library.

CWA Awareness Week is an opportunity for the public to learn more about who we are and the vital work we do in local communities across New South Wales and Australia. For over a century, the CWA has been a trusted voice on issues that matter to women and families and a driving force behind grassroots initiatives that strengthen rural and regional areas.

This year’s theme focuses on seasonal eating, reducing food waste and improving food security.

Our display was on show from September 12-26. It aimed to spark conversations around the way we buy, cook and consume food, encouraging a more mindful and sustainable approach.

Eating seasonally not only supports local farmers and reduces environmental impact, but it is also healthier and more economical. With food insecurity on the rise across the country, these simple changes can make a real difference.

We welcomed everyone to come and take a look, learn more about our branch and its activities, and consider how small everyday actions can contribute to a more secure and sustainable food future for all Australians.
