Music Education for Everyone
Scarborough Public School is well into its first term of an exciting collaboration with the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, bringing high-quality music education to every student.
Through this partnership, all children have gained access to the school band program and weekly in-class tuition, ensuring that music is a shared experience for all. This initiative has been made possible thanks to the generous support of our Parents & Citizens Association (P&C), whose commitment to equity and excellence ensures that every child can experience the joy and benefits of music. With their backing, Scarborough Public School is proud to continue this program into 2026 and beyond.
Music education is more than learning notes and rhythms. It nurtures critical and creative thinking, strengthens wellbeing, and builds confidence and collaboration.
When children engage in music, they develop resilience, imagination, and a sense of belonging. These are skills that enrich their academic learning and their lives beyond school.
Research consistently highlights the benefits of music education for children’s cognitive development, emotional wellbeing, and social connection.
At Scarborough, the program ensures that every child – regardless of background – has the opportunity to experience these benefits.
The school community is already seeing the joy and confidence that music brings to students. From the buzz of rehearsals to the pride of performance, the program is creating moments of collective achievement that embody Scarborough’s values of joy, kindness, curiosity, growth and community.
Scarborough Public School looks forward to welcoming families and the wider community to enjoy upcoming performances, celebrating the transformative power of music and the promise of a future where every child is known, valued, and inspired to thrive.
