Healthy Cities Australia is proud to present the 4th Annual Illawarra Women’s Day of Dance and Culture, a vibrant celebration of the region’s rich cultural diversity, creativity and community spirit. The women only event will take place
IWDDC is a women-only event, a safe, welcoming space created by women, for women to come together, build friendships, share stories, and connect with local services.
This year’s theme, “Take Me to the Islands,” brings the bold spirit and rich traditions of the Pasifika Islands. Led by Marion Taeo, Pasifika delegate and director of Empress Eventz, the program features traditional performances, soul-stirring island rhythms, and Pasifika-inspired cuisine.
“Food and dance is a universal language that connects us across cultures, ages and experiences,” said Margaret Biggs, Healthy Cities Australia Ambassador. “This day is all about bringing people together through movement, joy and shared stories. It’s also a powerful reminder of how inclusive, connected communities contribute to better health and wellbeing for everyone.”
This year’s event features stallholders from: Multicultural Communities of the Illawarra (MMCI), Women Illawarra, Wollongong City Council, Multicultural Health (ISLHD), Supported Accommodation & Homelessness Services Shoalhaven (SAHSSI), Illawarra Multicultural Services, Illawarra Women’s Health Centre, Breastscreen NSW, NSW police and WEA Illawarra.
The Illawarra Day of Dance and Culture is part of Healthy Cities Australia’s ongoing mission to support healthier, happier and more resilient communities through place- based programs and partnerships.
