“Life has dark moments and it is out of our darkness that we often find our greatest beauties and strengths" – Bryant McGill
Steel City Strings traverses countries, continents, centuries and cultures as we examine what it is to be human beginning with the powerful evocation of country in Long Time Living Here by Deborah Cheetham-Fraillon.
Criss-crossing musical worlds, the program surveys human experience in music that is rich in ideas and emotions. The works in this program – curated by Artistic Director for 2024, Adrian Davis – are all by composers who have faced significant challenges in life from loss of family members to discrimination because of religion or race.
