Steel City Strings are excited to announce Lloyd Van’t Hoff as a featured soloist in their next concert series Echoes about Asian influences on Australian music. He is a former ABC Young Performers Award winner, a concerto soloist with Australian and international orchestras and a regular performer of chamber music in Australia and around the world. Currently, Lloyd is Head of Woodwind at the University of Adelaide's Elder Conservatorium.
He says "It is a joy and privilege to perform Julian Yu’s Clarinet Concerto as part of Echoes, a project that celebrates the deep and resonant connections between Asian and Australian musical cultures. This work is a stunning example of musical storytelling—delicate, witty, and profoundly lyrical—crafted with Julian’s unmistakable voice that so artfully weaves Eastern nuance with Western form.
Steel City Strings players are looking forward to performing with and learning from a musician of his calibre. We expect audiences will be thrilled by his performance and hope you will come along to hear this innovative program.
Lloyd says, “Performing in regional centres is something I value immensely. It’s in these communities that music often finds its most enthusiastic and heartfelt audiences. There’s something deeply rewarding about sharing new Australian music in these settings—where cultural connection and appreciation run deep."
Echoes will also be performed in Bowral and Kiama.
