Wollongong City Council is holding a Household Chemical Collection on Sunday 5 June at Fred Finch Park, Berkeley so residents can safely dispose of chemicals and problem waste items such as garden chemicals, cleaning products, poisons, acids, batteries, pool chemicals, gas bottles, motor oils and fuels, and paint.
The EPA-supported program helps keep toxic chemicals from around the home out of the bin and landfill.
If you can’t make the date, don’t worry - Wollongong Local Government Residents can drop off a range of household problem waste items for free, year-round by visiting our Community Recycling Centre in Kembla Grange.
For more information about what household chemicals you can drop off for free at the CRC, visit our Community Recycling Centre webpage.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that the free Household Chemical Collection was all part of Council’s commitment to protecting our environment.
“One of Council’s key goals it to reduce our city’s ecological footprint. Part of that includes reducing what we put in landfill and disposing of problem waste such as household chemicals responsibly,” Cr Bradbery said.
“We know that our Household Chemical Collections are popular and that residents often stockpile household chemicals to drop-off at one time. We’d also like to remind people that our Community Recycling Centre is open every day of the year, except for Christmas, and takes household recyclables and a range of problem waste items for free.”
This is a NSW Environment Protection Authority Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded by the waste levy.
