PeliCount 2025 is just around the corner!

It's a fun, community day out!

Be part of a nationwide pelican census on Sunday, 6 July – the first Sunday in July.

We're counting Australian Pelicans across the country, and your observations will contribute to valuable citizen science.

How to get involved:

1. Register at pelicount.info@gmail.com

2. On 6 July, count the pelicans you see as per the data sheet

3. Submit your observations via the data sheet (you’ll receive the link after registering)

What to record:

· GPS location

· Start time

· Habitat type (e.g. beach, river, lake, boat ramp, etc.)

· Number of pelicans (noting juveniles vs adults)

Whether you're an experienced birder or simply curious, this is a great way to support pelican conservation. No experience necessary.
