Fair food and 'Eating Democracy'
Fair Food Week (8 to 16 October) is coordinated by The Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA), a not-for-profit farmer-led association working towards socially-just and ecologically-sound food and agriculture systems.
Fair Food Week (8 to 16 October) is coordinated by The Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA), a not-for-profit farmer-led association working towards socially just and ecologically sound food and agriculture systems. The AFSC defines food fairness in terms of farmers being fairly renumerated for the food that they grow and raise on our behalf and everyone having access to good, tasty food.
The AFSA are undertaking research in preparation for a new book to be published in 2023. The book, Eating Democracy, will focus on food sovereignty and how challenges like pandemics and climate change will impact how we source and consume food.
The focus for this year’s Fair Food Week is on these challenges and the AFSA encourages people and communities to complete a survey.
You have until 18 October to get your response in.
'Food Sovereignty' asserts the right of peoples to nourishing and culturally appropriate food produced and distributed in ecologically sound and ethical ways, and their right to collectively determine their own food and agriculture systems. – AFSA
