Best Northern Illawarra Pubs with a View

Nestled along the Northern Illawarra coastline, these pubs have great food and drink, plus panoramic views of the ocean. Each pub has its own unique charm and a scenic backdrop suitable for all kinds of occasions, from fancy dining to a night at the bowlo with mates.

Here are my favourites:

  • The Imperial at Clifton – New(ish) to the area, The Imperial at Clifton has a stunning view through the windows of the main dinning area. We’ve come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is always busy but always impressive.
  • The Bowlo – Scarborough-Wombarra Bowling Club – The Bowlo is not to be missed. Very retro, chilled and relaxed vibes here. You can soak up the sun and play bowls and enjoy the delicious and affordable Thai and western food from Black Duck Bistro. We’ve enjoyed many a meal here, from kids' birthdays to relaxed family dinners. The staff and locals are very welcoming and friendly.
  • The Scarborough Hotel – The beer garden at The Scarborough is really one of a kind. It is right on the cliff with multiple huts for dining in the shade. We hosted my dad’s 70th here and the space was great for kids to run around, while parents and grandparents relaxed and took in the views.
  • Headlands Hotel Austinmer Beach – Although I do miss the old Austi pub, Headlands Hotel has views all across Wollongong. You can look north to the National Park or south to Wollongong. It's always a favourite for when we have friends and family visiting and, again, we’ve enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner here with ease.
