About 150 sustainable food champions gathered for Connecting Over Fair Food, which was held at the University of Wollongong's Innovation Campus on Tuesday night, 18 October.
The Connecting Over Fair Food event was the work of Food Fairness Illawarra in partnership with Shellharbour City Council, Kiama Municipal Council, Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, University of Wollongong and Healthy Cities Illawarra.
Buena Vista’s Fiona Weir Walmsley facilitated the evening, which included keynote speaker Clarence Slockee (Gardening Australia and Jiwah), Adam Walmsley from Buena Vista, Rod Logan from Green Connect, Sheryl Wiffen from Permablitz the Gong and Ash Castro from Warrawong Reisidents Forum.
About 20 stallholders displayed their wares and chatted with attendees, who were provided with a delicious meal courtesy of Nina Cantina and Darkes Cider from Glenbernie Orchard.
Flame Tree Co-op members were on hand to dispense cups of tea, with the in-house chai mix being hugely popular.
Although an annual event, it hasn’t been held in person since 2020. We look forward to next year!
