Happy Holi! Our Nepali community celebrate
The Wollongong Illawarra Nepali Community held the festival of colours at Stuart Park yesterday
While the world watched in shock as events unfolded in the Middle East at the weekend, the region’s Nepali community celebrated Holi – the festival of colours – on Sunday in Stuart Park.

Special guests, local MPs Alison Byrnes and Paul Scully, got into the spirit of what was a huge multicultural weekend. They also attended the local Vietnamese community’s Tet celebrations, and special events hosted by the region’s Portuguese and Islamic communities.

“A big thank you for this beautiful Holi event where we are invited to share the traditions and culture with our Nepalese community,” said Alison Byrnes, the federal Member for Cunningham.
“The Holi Festival is about good triumphing over evil and that seems fitting with a lot of people hurting right now.”

The annual Holi Festival is presented by the Wollongong Illawarra Nepali Community (WINC).
