Regenerative agriculture refers to ecologically and socially sustaining farming based on revegetation, enhancing biodiversity and healthy living soils. It is the backlash against industrial agriculture and promotes practices that reduce CO2 emissions.
The Pines Artisan Micro Dairy in Kiama is a leading example of a local farm that uses regenerative farming methods. Kel and Mahlah Grey not only look after their dairy cows and pasture but regenerate their land to bring back flora and fauna to give it the best chance of surviving our changing climate.
The Pines produces cheese and gelato using milk from the farm. You can find them each week at Kiama Farmers Market or at the farm shop.
National Regenerative Agriculture Day is delivering a three-year awareness campaign on the unregulated use of pesticides and toxic chemicals in our food chain, culminating in a National Food Strategy. Find out more here.
