This week I revisit stories covered in earlier newsletters – Green Connect farm at Warrawong and FOODTALKS, an initiative of Food Fairness Illawarra.
Emily Henderson and Rod Logan from Green Connect welcomed me back to the farm following my visit in the spring of 2022. It’s getting cooler but the farm is thriving, with healthy animals, soil and crops and as far as the eye can see.
The second FOODTALKS event featured four local entrepreneurs who have developed their traditional skills – baking, butchery, fermenting and cooking and culture – into successful businesses. We gathered to learn and show support for small local businesses.
Finally, I share what’s in season in the world of fruit and veg... and there’s plenty.
This is my last Thursday newsletter for a while as The Illawarra Flame crew is winding down for winter. From mid-May, look out for a 'Best Of' local newsletter every Friday – you can sign up here.
The good news is you'll still be able to keep up to date with all of our great content via our website and in our socials every day, and we'll be welcoming spring with a new exciting format!
Enjoy,
Susan Luscombe
