Inuka – formerly sayari nyuki - is a small Australian-based charity dedicated to building stronger community in Tanzania through education and empowerment projects. Initially established to support the education of over 1,000 children at Cheti Schools in Arusha, its vision soon expanded to support the financial literacy and independence of women with micro-finance loans and plans to provide vocational training to young mothers who are otherwise excluded from the education system.

Maeve Turner, originally from Helensburgh and a former Bulli High student, founded Inuka after visiting Tanzania in 2018 where she witnessed the powerful impact of education on the local children and community. Adam Iyere was born and raised in Nigeria. He created Daper Experience with a mission to connect Africans in the diaspora and to represent African culture to the world.

Sharing a passion for giving back to community, they are excited to present their first event together, RIZING, on October 15 at Marly Bar in Newtown.

With performances by DJ Tiri, DJ Pluggy and DJ 3urieb and an auction of artworks by Mitchell Francis, Thom Gatt, Helensburgh's Sarah Rowan and Bulli's Jesse Appleton, RIZING will bring Sydney a night of dance and good vibes, with all proceeds going towards the construction of the first classroom at Inuka’s vocational training centre.

Helensburgh artist Mitchell Francis has kindly donated an artwork. Mitchell, a proud indigenous man from the Gunditjmara nation in Victoria and Bundjalung nation in Northern NSW, is inspired to create art and share his culture through a creative outlet for which he holds a strong passion.

Mitchell says: "It is an honour to donate this art piece to Inuka as I love the opportunity to help others, and I hope the money raised from this piece will do that."

Performance artist Sarah Rowan will be donating an artwork created on the night.
