What’s new at Treetop Arts School in Helensburgh

There are new trainers, new classes and a new not-profit status ahead at Treetop Arts School, the circus and performing arts school founded by Charlie Truscott at Helensburgh's Burgh gym.

Charlie said she was delighted to welcome newcomers Corie Hurry as the new head of the Circus, Acrobatic & Performance Department, Tom Fortesque as head of Parkour and Gefen Svirsky as director of the Senior Circus Aerial Performance Program (CAPP) Troupe.

“I am thrilled to welcome these talented individuals to the Treetop Arts family,” Charlie said. “Their extensive backgrounds bring a wealth of experience to the team."

After taking a break earlier this year, Charlie is back as the performing director at Treetop Arts.

“My new role will be overseeing the final stages of Treetop's registration with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, positioning the school as a charity, which is a project I am really keen to finalise,” Charlie said.

“I will also be directing performances, guiding aerial students through competitions and returning to teaching classes on a regular basis.”

Treetop Arts School will also be hosting new classes for various ages and interests. These include the Mighty Marvels boys' gymnastics program, gymnastics programs for 4-5-year-olds including Super Stars and Tiny Talents, cheerleading, Mini Parkour, Saturday Kindy Gym Classes, Dynamic Tumbling and Open Gym for existing gymnasts, acrobats, or circus students to train at their own pace.

Looking ahead, Treetop Arts School has big plans for 2024.

Renovations are underway, promising a revamped and improved learning environment,” Charlie said.

“Senior students are gearing up for the National Circus Festival and the competitive gymnastics team is achieving remarkable success in state competitions.”

Amid all the changes, Treetop Arts' commitment to fostering holistic growth and a vibrant artistic community will remain the same.
