The long weekend had better than expected weather with forecast showers only being patchy over Saturday and fine over the remainder of the weekend. The visitors from Sydney were in abundance and it was good to see many returning to open homes along our beautiful coastline.
Good properties were once again in demand with high visitor numbers at opens on Saturday while other properties not so much in demand still struggled to get decent inspection numbers. The coming weeks will determine if this is a return to more positive sentiment in the area or just a long weekend anomaly.
There was one amazing result from the weekend and a new record set for Helensburgh. The property at 8 Laurina Ave, Helensburgh had set the suburb record previously and it was easy to see why. Over 1100 sq/m of land and a palatial house with six generous bedrooms, three bathrooms and a resort-style swimming pool surrounded by multiple entertaining areas and decks.
The auction on Saturday was well attended by locals and about five registered bidders made auctioneer Ron Kissell from Ray White Helensburgh work hard.
Multiple bids over more than half an hour, with some bid increments as low as $5000 in rapid succession, were a spectacle to witness. However, in the end an astonishing price was achieved of $2,195,000 and a new record for the suburb. Lead agent Mattias Samuelsson and the entire team at Ray White Helensburgh are to be congratulated for the result.
