Vesper Jones & Marshmallow is an empowering new tale about confronting your fears by Shellharbour children’s author Karen Hendriks.
A well-known creative in the Shellharbour community, Karen recently launched her latest book with a wonderful children’s party at Badu Café in Shellharbour Village. Young book lovers turned out in droves to enjoy storytime with Karen, as well as dancing, games, cupcakes and hand-crafted cookies. The day's most delighted guest was a local girl who shared a name with the main character – Vesper.
With stunning illustrations by Italian illustrator Francesca Corso, Vesper Jones & Marshmallow is aimed at children aged three to eight. The story follows a little girl called Vesper who is tired of having nightmares so, with the help of her trusty dream changer and brave cat, Marshmallow, she devises a plan to rid her nights of scary things.
This imaginative tale visits fantastical dream worlds, setting the scene for a magical, fun adventure. Vesper is a brave protagonist and her cat a loyal sidekick; together the two form a dynamic duo who demonstrate how to tackle bad dreams and bed time anxiety.
Karen's other children’s books include Our Shellharbour, a charmingly illustrated tale depicting the natural wonders of region while encouraging children to explore the great outdoors.
Vesper Jones & Marshmallow (Starfish Bay Publishing) is available in all good online bookstores.
