Community Satisfaction Survey invites residents to call it how they see it

Wollongong City Council media release: 2 September 2025

Wollongong City Council is inviting residents to take part in a community satisfaction survey being conducted by an independent research company Taverner Research over the next fortnight.

From Monday 1 September to Saturday 13 September, Taverner Research will call a random selection of residents on Council’s behalf. The survey will ask about people’s experiences with Council services and facilities, and measure how satisfied the community is with the work Council delivers.

Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said the survey is an important opportunity for the community to share their views.

“Our city is growing and changing, and we want to make sure our services reflect what our community values and needs,” Cr Brown said.

“This is the fourteenth time we’ve run this survey, and each time it provides us with valuable information. The feedback helps us measure community satisfaction across the many services Council provides and informs our future planning and decision-making. That is why we encourage residents to take part.”

Taverner Research will contact residents on both mobiles and landlines between 3.30pm and 8pm weekdays, and 10am and 4pm on Saturdays. Calls will display the caller identification 02 4209 3032.

To be eligible, residents must be aged 18 years or older, have lived in the Wollongong Local Government Area for at least six months, and not be a current Councillor or Council employee.

Council is aiming for a representative sample of 600 people, covering a mix of ages and genders, to ensure the survey reflects the diversity of our community.

“We want to reassure residents that survey questions will never ask for financial details or personal information that could identify you,” Cr Brown said.

“The questions have been designed to gather feedback that truly reflects the views of our local community. If you receive a call from Taverner Research, please take the time to answer – your input will help shape the future of our city.”

The survey takes about 15 minutes and includes questions about people’s experiences with Council services and facilities, their interactions with Council, and how they receive information about Council news and events.

Alongside the phone survey, an online survey will also be available on Council’s website. Results from the community satisfaction survey will be published in a report in late 2025.
