Transport for NSW Traffic Alert: 13 October 2025
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions in parts of Wollongong this week for the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals.
Road closures and Special Event Clearways (SECs) will be in place at various times from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 October on Campbell Street, Wilson Street, Smith Street, Hector Street, Georges Place, Harbour Street, Crown Street, Burelli Street, Marine Drive, Endeavour Drive, Cliff Road, Bourke Street, Corrimal Street, Kembla Street, George Hanley Drive, Squires Way, Carters Lane, Elliotts Road and Pioneer Road.
There will also be a number of side streets closed with access for residents only. Detailed road closure and clearway times are available on the event website https://wollongongtriathlon.
SECs are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types during defined periods and apply even to local residents and Transport for NSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. People need to check signs carefully as vehicles parked in clearways during the defined period will be towed and a fee applies.
With limited parking in Wollongong and North Wollongong during the event, attendees are advised to plan their travel ahead.
Trains run regularly to North Wollongong and Wollongong on the South Coast Line, both are within walking distance of the free 'Gong shuttle’ (routes 55A and 55C). An event shuttle will also run between Wollongong Station and WIN Entertainment Centre to transport participants and spectators to the event area.
Allow extra travel time if driving in Wollongong as traffic may be heavier than usual around the area.
