Traffic alert for Wollongong Triathlon Festival

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions in Wollongong from 19–21 April as the Wollongong Triathlon Festival takes place.  

Wollongong City is hosting the World Triathlon Cup and the Wollongong Triathlon over the weekend, with special event clearways and multiple road closures in place.  

From 6am on Friday 19 April to 6pm on Saturday 20 April Cliff Road will be closed between Harbour Street and Georges Place. 

Special event clearways will come into effect from 1am to 6pm on Saturday 20 April along the following roads:  

·       Cliff Road between Harbour and Blackett streets,  

·       Bourke Street between Cliff Road and Kembla Street,  

·       Kembla Street between Bourke and Blackett streets,

·       Blackett Street between Kemba Street and Cliff Road. 

Additional road closures will also be in place on Saturday between 6am and 6pm on: 

·       Kembla Street between Blacket and Corrimal streets,

·       Bourke Street between Cliff Road and Church Street,  

·       Crown Street between Parkside Avenue and Marine Drive,  

·       Marine Drive between Crown Street and Endeavour Drive and  

·       Endeavour Drive between Cliff Road and Marine Drive. 

A detour will be in place for traffic using Corrimal and Kembla streets, south of Bourke Street and west of Kembla Street, motorists will be detoured via Campbell Street between Corrimal and Flinders streets, and also Church Street between Bourke and Campbell streets.   

From 6.30am Sunday 21 April the following roads closures will be in place until 2pm: 

·       Cliff Road between Marine and George Hanley drives,  

·       Blacket Street between Cliff Road and The Novotel North Beach,  

·       Virginia Street between Bourke Street and George Hanley Drive,  

·       Bessell Avenue between Bourke and Bode streets,  

·       Kembla Street between Blacket Street and George Hanley Drive,  

·       George Hanley Drive between Cliff Road and Squires Way,  

·       Squires Way between George Hanley Drive and Pioneer Road and  

·       Pioneer Road between Squires Way and Towradgi Road.  

Resident vehicle access to Cliff Road will be in place from 6am Friday until 6am Saturday, following this no resident vehicle access will be allowed until the road re-opens.
