Huge waves and a good dusting of snow at Robertson over the weekend heralded the early arrival of winter throughout the state, with many regions experiencing their coldest May day in years.
Many of our readers love a good old-fashioned weather event and there’s some great images of the early snowfall posted by those who braved the cold in search of the white stuff. Brad Chilby from Chilby Photography has some fantastic shots, as do Illawarra Stormchasers.

An offshore low is generating damaging surf and gale force winds and if you’ve been down to the beach over the last couple of days, you’d have noticed a few things: loads of surfers and spectators, massive swell and well, not a lot of sand. It has made for incredible viewing and when the winds settle later this week, the resulting beach-combing will be worth the effort too.
A hazardous surf warning remains in place.
