Media release from Maryanne Stuart MP, the Member for Heathcote, 14 August 2025
Transport for NSW will soon begin improvement work in the Bulli town centre to help ease traffic congestion, improve safety and enhance access through the village.
As part of the work, a new right-turn arrow will be installed from the Princes Highway into Park Road. Left-in and left-out access will be introduced at Station Street to improve traffic flow and safety.
Parking will be increased along both Station and Railway streets, and the existing footpath will be upgraded to a shared pedestrian and cycle path.
The project will start with upgrades to the existing traffic lights. This work will take place over four nights from Monday 18 August, between 8pm and 4am, weather permitting.
Traffic lights will be turned off during this period, with traffic controllers on site to manage vehicle movements.
Day work will then start from Monday 25 August, on weekdays between 7am and 5pm for about five weeks, weather permitting.
As part of the improvements, a permanent 30 km/h speed limit will be introduced from Tuesday 19 August on Park Road, Station Street, Railway Street, Bank Street and Veigals Lane to support safer movement for all road users.
Motorists are advised that changed traffic conditions will be in place during the works, including single lane closures and a temporary reduced speed limit of 40 km/h, to ensure the safety of workers and the community.
Further upgrades will follow in the coming months, including the installation of new car parking and street lighting on Station Street. Upon completion of this work, extended clearway hours will be introduced to help improve traffic flow during peak periods.
These will include weekday morning and afternoon peaks, as well as southbound clearways on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm.
Member for Heathcote Maryanne Stuart said: “This important work will go a long way to improving the flow of traffic in and around the Bulli town centre and making it easier for the community to park, walk and access the necessary shops and services nearby.”
“We know the community values safety and connectivity in this part of town, which is why we have reduced the speed limit on Station Street, provided additional parking spaces, and added two pedestrian crossings, giving safe and easy access to nearby shops and services.”
“We thank the community for its advocacy, and its patience while this important work is being carried out.”
Transport will continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses. For more information, visit: transport.nsw.gov.au/bulli-town-centre-improvements
