Night road closures ahead for drainage works at Scarborough

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions while Sydney Trains carries out essential drainage improvement work at the Scarborough Culvert beneath Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Scarborough.

Work is scheduled between Monday 7 September and Friday 2 October 2026. Construction activities will occur overnight from 8pm to 4am on Monday to Friday morning only, with no work planned on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights.

To ensure the safety of road users and workers, temporary traffic changes will be in place, including: 

• Lane closures and stop/slow traffic management during night work.
• Temporary full road closures on Lawrence Hargrave Drive near Scarborough Hotel and Scarborough Scenic Lookout between 8pm and 4am on 14, 15, 16 and 17 September 2026.

During the full road closures, motorists will be directed via a signed detour using Lady Wakehurst Drive, the Princes Highway and Princes Motorway.

The detour is expected to add up to 45 minutes to travel times.

Motorists travelling through Scarborough, Wombarra, Coledale, Clifton and surrounding suburbs are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time and allow additional travel time.
