Note new dates for SPAT panto auditions
Be part of a much-loved Christmas tradition – join Stanwell Part Arts Theatre to try out for 'Save the Moon: A Cheesy Pantomime' this Sunday
The stars have not aligned for us regarding a September production but next year looks to be very busy and exciting for productions. Also, this downtime has given us the required breather to stocktake and upgrade our side curtains, cover the stage ceiling to improve acoustics, and source aluminium stairs with railings for easy access from the hall to the stage.
Annual Pantomime
The audition dates for the panto written by Cameron Sharp and entitled Save the Moon: A Cheesy Pantomime are:
- Sunday, 6 September 6 at 2:00 pm
- Tuesday, 8 September at 7:30pm at the Stanwell Park CWA Hall.
Rehearsals will be held every Sunday afternoon at 2pm (for adults and children) and every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm (adults only).
There are plenty of parts for both adults and children and it’s the perfect opportunity for the parents of children involved to try their hand at acting or to take up any of the non-acting roles essential for a successful production. We look forward to seeing you at either audition.
Our multi-talented director/musical director Rod Lander will be there for both auditions and the first rehearsal and then will depart for Portugal where he will be singing with a Sydney Choir for almost three weeks. Eric Alexander, also a seasoned director is stepping in to co-direct, and he will be ably assisted by our wonderful pianist Catherine Rostrum. So, rehearsals will not be impacted during Rod’s absence, and Eric will continue to co-direct when Rod returns.
We will be running a stage craft workshop for all the children involved a week or so prior to the rehearsals starting so they gain an understanding of voice projection and blocking. These details will be available at the auditions.
SPAT Singers
The singers are once again in full swing and enjoying all the lovely new songs that Lindy Sharp brings every Friday night.
For all those who have considered joining us in the past, now is the perfect time to check us out. We meet every Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the Stanwell Park CWA hall and welcome both singers and musicians alike. In addition, our members continue to bring an assortment of delectable sweet and savoury dishes to share at interval along with wine for those that are so inclined.
SPAT Film Society
The beautiful film Hamnet was well received by all with nary a dry eye in sight.
The final film for this year will be screened in October. We will provide the details of this show in the October edition and look forward to seeing you there.
Correction: Panto audition dates changed after the Illawarra Flame's print magazine went to press. The September 17 audition will now be held on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30pm.
