It makes a thick dahl (lentil curry) eaten with homemade flatbread.
I suggest you either soak the split chickpeas overnight or cook them in a pressure cooker. This dahl would also work well in a slow cooker. If you have leftovers, the dahl freezes well.
The accompanying roti is quite fiddly to make but is fresh and delicious if you have the time. As an alternative to making your own, Fairy Meadow’s Spice Corner sells packs of fresh Indian-style flatbread.
