We all need a little R&R

Congratulations, parents and caregivers – you've made it through another school holiday. And with torrential rain! It's time to take a breath, go back into your usual routines and enjoy the final sprint into the silly season.

For some much-deserved R&R, here are my favourite spots around the Illawarra.

1. Ibah Spa Austinmer

I'm not complaining but every time I get a birthday or Christmas or baby shower present, it's for this day spa. It's right at the back of Austi, hidden in the rainforest. The team of women there are so lovely, and experts in relaxation. I always opt for the "Ibah Petite Harmony" – 1 hour and 45 minutes of massage and facial. They don't mind if you snore, either.

2. Sea Cliff Bridge

When I am feeling stressed and need to escape, I often do the Sea Cliff Bridge walk. Not a restful activity but endorphins and all that jazz. The scenery is jaw-dropping and, early in the morning, there is hardly anyone there.

3. NZ Nail & Footspa

On Lawrence Hargrave Drive in Thirroul, this is my go-to for a quick mani-pedi and a little foot scrub.

4. Frank's Wild Years

This is my partner and I's favourite pre-dinner date drinks spot. Very relaxed vibe, a comforting outdoor courtyard that reminds me of my uni days and delicious cocktails and wines. What more could you ask for?

Enjoy!
