Helensburgh’s Rex Jackson parkrun delayed due to rain

5 May 2024: Weather delayed parkrun launch

"Unfortunately, there has been a hold up with being able to officially launch parkrun in Helensburgh," says organiser Harley Mangham. "The updates have been on the local Helensburgh Help Facebook page. It is a rain-affected course that goes into the trails behind the sports fields at Helensburgh. When it goes official it will have its own dedicated Facebook page and all updates will be there.

"We are hoping to launch this month and I'm predicting either the 18th/25th of May or June 1st at the latest.

"Starts 8am on the corner of Rex Jackson Oval opposite Cowper Street."

30 April 2024: Parkrun comes to Helensburgh

By Harley Mangham

Great news for the runners and fitness enthusiasts in town, parkrun is landing in Helensburgh this May!

It’s been a long time coming and there were  setbacks along the way including the recent heavy rainfall hitting Fletcher Street and causing huge ruts. We have held a couple of trials on the new course, which does two loops of Flatrock trail (see map below).

The course isn’t dog friendly unfortunately as it goes into NWPS land … and due to the rocky trail along Flatrock it isn’t stroller friendly either.

But it is very people friendly, and is a free, timed run/walk for everyone!

Your personal results will be emailed to you after the run … you just have to register and download a barcode from www.parkrun.com.au

Rex Jackson parkrun (as it is named on the parkrun website) will launch Saturday, 4th of May and every Saturday thereafter (unless cancelled by weather). There will be a dedicated Facebook page for any updates. See you at Rex Jackson!
