Step into wild world of porcelain art at annual show

The Illawarra & Sydney Southern District Porcelain Artists invite you to discover a world where art, imagination and the animal kingdom come together in porcelain.

Established in 1976 as the Illawarra Porcelain Art Society, our group has a proud history spanning more than four decades. In 2024, the Sydney Southern District merged with the Illawarra association, bringing together artists with a shared passion for the intricate and endlessly creative art of painting on porcelain.

Our 44th exhibition invites you to step into the wild!

Bugs, Birds & Animals celebrates all of the animal kingdom in its wonderful diversity. From beautifully observed Australian native animals to charming and quirky creatures, our artists have taken inspiration from the world around us to create an exciting collection of porcelain artworks.

Expect to see fur, feathers, wings, scales, paws, claws and perhaps a few unexpected characters, interpreted through the individual styles and imaginations of our artists. Realistic wildlife sits alongside whimsical and contemporary interpretations, showcasing the incredible versatility of porcelain as an artistic medium. The exhibition also extends beyond porcelain, with artists working across a range of media, techniques and creative approaches. Together, they offer an exciting breadth of subjects, styles and inspiration.

But Bugs, Birds & Animals is not just an exhibition to look at – it is an opportunity to discover and take home beautiful, original art.

Artwork will be available for purchase across a wide range of prices, from affordable pieces to more substantial works. Whether you are looking for a unique gift, something special for your home or simply a beautiful piece of Australian-inspired art, there will be something to tempt you.

And if buying isn't on your agenda, come along anyway! Meet the artists, discover the extraordinary skill involved in porcelain painting and enjoy a dazzling display of locally created art.

Come and experience the animal kingdom as you've never seen it before…
