Take 3 - Top spots to ramble
When I asked the Illawarra Rambler's publicity officer, Russell Verdon, about his top three spots to ramble, his first response was, "There are nice walks everywhere – it’s so hard to choose!" These were the ones he came up with.
When I asked the Illawarra Rambler's publicity officer, Russell Verdon, about his top three spots to ramble, his first response was, "There are nice walks everywhere – it’s so hard to choose!"
These were the ones he came up with.
1. Forest Path, Maddens Plains
“I like the Forest Path. It’s lovely; you walk through this great mass of Gymea lilies, and when they’re flowering they have these bright green leaves and the bright red tops. It's beautiful."
2. Barren Grounds
"Lovely with nature, lovely lookouts towards Lake Illawarra and lots of little birds that fly in and out of there. Plus all of the lovely wildflowers through Spring make it a really nice place to walk."
3. Sydney Harbour
"There are so many walks up around Sydney Harbour. Recently we caught the ferry to Taronga Zoo and then walked to Balmoral Beach. There are really beautiful views of the harbour.
"We’ve also visited Wendy Whiteley’s Garden, which is a lovely garden. Some of our members have lived up there, which really helps with them knowing all the fantastic spots to visit."
