Hello, Thursday foodies,
As interest rates and the cost of everything continues to rise, there is a real need to make savings wherever we can. It makes more sense than ever to cut costs on our food bill by improving the way we shop, cook and store food to reduce our food waste.
The NSW Environment Protection Authority’s Love Food Hate Waste program is a great resource, raising awareness in households and businesses of the impact of food waste and ways to avoid it.
Today, I give some tips and further resources for using vegetable scraps and repurposing leftovers. All of this advice applies equally if you have a large family or if you are a single household, but for the latter I give some further tips.
And I find a great resource on Wollongong City Council’s website – Second Time Around Recipe Book – and share my favourite recipe.
Enjoy,
Susan Luscombe
