A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the Vote for Food election scorecard, the initiative of a coalition, including our own Food Fairness Illawarra. The results are in and I share them with you this week.
I was a guest of Jen Panucci’s and her English for Speakers of Other Languages class at North Wollongong TAFE, where we heard about nutrition and healthy eating from Healthy Cities Illawarra’s Manami Henderson.
Thanks to The Conversation, we share an article by UOW's Lauren Samuelsson on 'Tangy apricot Bavarian whip, fried rice medley and bombe Alaska: what Australia’s first food influencer had us cooking'.
Finally, I look at the humble, savoury “fruit", the tomato. I encourage you to take advantage of the late summer, early autumn availability of nutritious ripe tomatoes. Eat them fresh with olive oil and basil or preserve them for later for that taste of summer in the depths of winter. My roast tomato sauce recipe, shared here, is better than a bought one.
Enjoy,
Susan Luscombe
