Top 4 spots for dining with kids
If you have young kids, staying home is always the easier option. But sometimes you have to go out into civilisation and realise that you’re actually a part of the world and have dinner out.
If you have young kids, staying home is always the easier option. But sometimes you have to go out into civilisation and realise that you’re actually a part of the world and have dinner out. To make this event as smooth as possible, I’m sharing my top dinner spots for dining with kids.
1. Wombarra Bowlo
The Black Duck Bistro serves the yummiest Thai food for kids who love noodles and rice but also the pub classics of chips, nuggets and fish for those fussier eaters. There is lots of room to run around outside and they’ll have loads of other kids around to play with.
2. South Sailor, Thirroul
Delicious, fresh, Japanese-inspired food and tasty cocktails make you feel like an adult again. The menu is super kid-friendly and they have a cubby house in the outdoor area.

3. Tradies, Helensburgh
Tradies has a gated playground. If you have runners as I do, you get it. It’s all about the gate.
Ordinarily this is the place for all your pub classic meals and beverages with a very generous scoop of FREE ice-cream with every kid's meal. However, at this point, the bistro is closed due to staff shortages. Check Tradies Facebook page to see which local food truck will be servicing dinner on the night you visit.
October update: the Bistro is back!

4. Francos Pizza, Thirroul
What kid doesn’t like pizza? The staff are amazing. We sat down with the aim to eat and leave, and the owner totally understood. He put a word into the chef and rushed our orders along. Lifesaver!
