This is my last Tuesday newsletter for a while as The Illawarra Flame crew is winding down for winter. From mid-May, look out for a 'Best Of' local newsletter every Friday and you can sign up here.
The good news is you'll still be able to keep up to date with all of our great content via our website and in our socials every day, and we'll be welcoming spring with a new exciting format!
But until then... this week I spoke to co-owner of City Coast Motorcycles and Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Wollongong organiser Jane Sim about the world's biggest charity motorcycle event on May 21. Each year riders from more than 900 countries take part to raise money for men's mental health, suicide prevention and prostate cancer research. Find out how you can support the Wollongong participants who make our small city one of the top global cities involved in this event.
I also spoke to West Wollongong Rotary Club's Dianne North about Sunday's inaugural Paws4ACause. The event saw 150 dogs compete in super fun and super cute competitions, their owners braving the morning's ruff weather to raise money for Interplast, a charity that provides developing nations with skilled plastic and reconstructive surgery specialists; and I provide an update on the proposed Helensburgh Pool upgrades.
