Hello, Tuesday readers

It was a big weekend of charity events, with the MS Mega Swim and the Great Illawarra Walk on Saturday, March 11. To kick off today's newsletter, I have all the snaps from the walk's first time being staged on the coast.

I also spoke to Kirby Mowbray, the Woonona Boardriders' newly appointed girls/women's manager – the first in the club's 48-year history – about how the club has begun prioritising participation and improving the skill level of the Junior Girls and Women's Open divisions.

This week's Beach of the Week is Port Kembla, the long and strikingly beautiful beach south of Wollongong. Read on to find out what you need to know before you go, thanks to Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club's Dan Meehan.

Catch you later,

Caitlin Sloan
