Hello, Tuesday readers

This week we take a look at the upcoming Stanwell Park Safety Expo – a collaborative effort by Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club and Stanwell Park Rural Fire Service. I chat to the SLSC’s president about why everyone should visit the Surf Club this Sunday to learn about summer safety essentials.

Shark research in the Illawarra is also on the agenda, with the Department of Primary Industries installing a shark listening station off the shoreline of Stanwell Park Beach earlier this year. But what are shark listening devices, and what have they heard?

This week’s Beach of the Week is the spectacular Coalcliff Beach, popular for its great surf, crystal-clear rockpools, and proximity to Sea Cliff Bridge. Coalcliff SLSC’s Dave Winner shares its highlights and hazards.

Enjoy the warmer weather, and I’ll catch you later,

Caitlin Sloan
