What better way to start the year than to look over the beautiful region we live in? We all need a little perspective sometimes.
1. Sublime Point

This is the one I drag all my visitors to and the one I go back to time and time again as the view down the coast is just so beautiful. Last time I was there, the Gymea Lilies were in flower and a couple of Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos called their eerie call from behind me and I was able to watch as they travelled all the way down to the golden sands below.
Note: The Sublime Point walking track is still closed due to the risk of landslip and rockfalls. There's still plenty to see!
More details here.
2. Bald Hill, Stanwell Tops
How can you resist a trip to this amazing lookout in the Illawarra's north? You can look down the coast, spot a whale or two, see the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge, grab a coffee and if you're lucky watch the hang gliders and para gliders take off in front, literally, of your eyes!
See more info here.
3. Mt Keira Summit Park, Wollongong

Did you know that Mt Keira Summit Park is actually part of the Wollongong Botanic Garden?
Not only is the view breathtaking, the area surrounding is beautiful with loads of wildlife and is a significant Aboriginal cultural heritage site. Keep an eye out for the 'Six Daughters of the West Wind' sculpture located behind the picnic area. And, yes, there's a fab kiosk, which is lucky because staring at beautiful places is thirsty work!
Check out the Facebook page for opening times of the kiosk.
