December’s Thirroul Music Festival was the most successful since the event began four years ago, and there are more great gigs coming soon from the same promoters.
“The 2023 edition of the Thirroul Music Festival was our biggest yet,” said Luke Woods, an event organiser from Cheating Heart Records.
“It seemed like everyone had a great time, moving around town between venues, catching up with friends and seeing some of the world’s best artists right here in Thirroul.”
The festival showcased international acts and home-grown talent, performing a mix of country, blues, Americana and indie tunes.
“The Thirroul Community Choir 'Earth, Wind & Choir' were also a highlight of the day for almost everyone I spoke to,” Luke said.
Another highlight: “Two of Nashville’s finest – Courtney Marie Andrews and Robert Ellis – running across the road to play intimate solo sets in Franks Wild Years after their headline performances at Anita’s Theatre.
“Anyone that was lucky enough to get in will remember those Franks shows for a long time.”
For Thirroul, the festival was an opportunity to show off its charm.
“We hope both the local community and visitors to town had a memorable day exploring Thirroul and experiencing great music along the way,” Luke said.
“We also hope some of our local venues and businesses were able to benefit from the extra foot traffic in town on the day.”
The Thirroul Music Festival organisers, Cheating Heart Records, and their co-presenters, Love Police, don't intend to take much time off. They plan to host shows at Anita’s Theatre and Franks Wild Years in February and March.
“We have Texas troubadour Charley Crockett playing Anita’s Theatre on 2 February, who you won’t want to miss,” Luke said.
“We’re also hosting Tassie’s finest singer-songwriter Claire Anne Taylor at Franks Wild Years on 23 March – but space is limited so make sure you reserve your spot on the Franks website.”
