Brick Fair boosts Lions’ charity work
Fresh from hosting the annual Brick Fair, Helensburgh Lions Club is now looking forward to the Country Fair in October
There were plenty of ‘oohs’, ‘aahs’ and exclamations of delight from the young, and young-at-heart attendees of this year’s Helensburgh Lion’s Club Brick Fair on Sunday, 9 August at Tradies Helensburgh.
The event featured amazing displays, rare and vintage Lego and even a Helensburgh Country Fair themed Lego build!
“It’s always a delight to bring this event to the community,” Helensburgh Lions Club President, Rod Peppernell said. “We want to thank Keith Hawkins for his continued coordination of this much-loved event.”
Sponsored by Peabody’s Metropolitan Mine, Ron and Chris Kissell of Ray White Real Estate and Helensburgh Tradies, the proceeds from the Brick Fair are being donated to charitable causes.
“This year we are donating funds to 2508 Salvos to assist locals in need,” Rod said. “We will also contribute funding to help with the costs of the Christmas Carols in the Park, which is put on by the combined churches of Helensburgh.
"And after reading the article in The Illawarra Flame about the late Glenn Fahey, we will be donating to the Targeted Cancer Research Team at the University of Wollongong.”
The club isn’t resting on its laurels. Plans are underway to host the much-loved annual Helensburgh Country Fair on Saturday, 24 October.
“Events like the Fair are embedded into the culture and fabric of Australian communities,” Rod said.
“The Helensburgh Lion’s Club is looking for passionate locals to give just a few hours of their time every now and then to assist with our initiatives. It’s fun and it’s not onerous. Get in touch with us to find out more.”
