Welcome to Fair Food Week

The fair food theme continues this week being Fair Food Week (8-16 October).

What exactly do we mean by fair food?

I talk to UoW’s Professor Karen Charlton about a collaboration between Food Fairness Illawarra and the University of Wollongong to increase our local food resilience.

I look at fresh produce and what’s in season throughout October.

I meet some of the members of the Keiraville Branch of the CWA in the 100th anniversary year of this Australian institution. Spoiler alert! It’s not just about scones, although I couldn’t resist scones as the recipe of the week. Local CWA member and compiler of the CWA recipe book All About Scones, Diane Moffitt, shares her favourite scone recipe.

Accordingly, I take a dive into buttermilk and its use in sweet and savoury dishes.

Local community grocery store Flame Tree Co-op had its annual general meeting and elected a new board. For me, it's personal!

Enjoy,

Susan, the Thursday editor
