Creative cupcakes rise to state prize
By Marion Cook of Keiraville CWA
Keiraville CWA members have had outstanding success at this year’s Country Women’s Association State Conference competitions, with members earning top honours across a range of categories.
Eight-year-old junior member Harper Jarvis impressed judges with her creativity and baking skills in the Land Cookery competition. Entering the contest in February, Harper created four sea creature-themed cupcakes, which earned her first place at the Branch level.
Her Branch win qualified her to compete at the Illawarra Group competition, where she again secured first place, earning a coveted spot at the State Conference competition.
Competing against entrants from across NSW, Harper’s imaginative cupcake creations were awarded second place at state level. She received a certificate and prize money in recognition of her achievement.
Keiraville CWA celebrated further success at the State Conference, with Tracy Meyer taking out third place in the Light Fruit Cake section and Bek Ryan placing third in the state in the article of craft – woodwork category. Eleanor Brash, a non-member, was awarded second place in the felted item with her beautiful hat. Congratulations also to Deirdre Bowman, another non-member, for third place with a hank of wool.
Ivy Jarvis, a junior member, was highly commended for her entry in the junior handicrafts, Kayla and Bianca Jarvis were both highly commended for their artwork entries.
These achievements highlight the creativity of Keiraville CWA members and friends of all ages and showcase the strong community spirit within our branch. Congratulations to all our entrants.
