Hello everyone,
In this week's Thursday Flame newsletter, I delve into food sustainability and the importance of a local food network. I talk to Berbel Franse, a program manager at Healthy Cities and Food Fairness Illawarra, about her newest initiative, Wollongong Online Farmers Market.
Food Fairness Illawarra is a wealth of information on food security, growing your own food and shopping sustainably, locally and ethically.
Fair food is about food that is good for the environment, the people who eat it and produce it, and the community. Our food should be nutritious and affordable to all. As Berbel says, our food system is broken so we need to address the challenges. I also highlight some of the amazing charities working locally to provide nutritious food to those in need.
The recipe of the week comes from my own recipe library via the cookbook author Donna Hay. It is a very simple but delicious no-cook slice.
Enjoy!
Susan Luscombe, the Thursday editor
