Change is in the air, it’s daunting but it's invigorating! Healthy Cities Illawarra (HCI) is embracing a new era with open arms, as we introduce not only a dynamic new Board but also an enthusiastic Ambassador who brings a wise perspective to our mission. To add to the excitement, we're pleased to unveil a lineup of upcoming events that promise to inspire, educate, and engage our community in all thing’s health and wellbeing.

Over the last two years, HCI has undergone reflection and review, as all good organisations do, to ensure they have the best governance strategies for the place and time we live in. The transition to a skills-based board, 100% elected from community has been undertaken in a consultative way, working closely with professional change agents and in conversations with local government representatives, Life Members of HCI and other key stakeholders.

Change at the leadership level is often seen as a pivotal moment for any organisation. The new Board of Directors is a carefully selected team of accomplished individuals, each bringing their unique talents and experiences to the table. We are geared towards new horizons, fostering growth and innovation.

Meet the freshly elected board of Directors:

  • Chair: Catherine Moyle
  • Deputy Chair: Dr Lance Barrie
  • Secretary & Public Officer: Kelly Andrews
  • Andrew Mastroianni
  • Joe Woodward
  • Franca Facci
  • Dr Mary-Anne Land
  • Katie Singh
  • Vicky Wallace
  • Dr Lina Engelen (Observor & Adviser)

In addition to our Board, we are delighted to introduce a prominent Ambassador who is as passionate about our cause as we are. Our Ambassador is someone who resonates with our values and mission, and their involvement promises to bring fresh ideas, opportunities, and increased visibility to our organisation.

Margaret Biggs has been active in the Illawarra for over 30 years as a development and marketing professional and as a volunteer/board member for charities and community organisations. Having worked in retail management, disability services and the education sector, Margaret is recognised as a champion networker who brings people and events together to achieve good outcomes for our community. Margaret is the Chair of the Illawarra Women's Day of Dance and Culture, now an annual opportunity for local women, particularly those marginalised by migrant/ refugee and socio-economic status, to share food, conversation, music and dance and make meaningful connections.
