Next week is back to school time or for some, like me, it's the start of a whole new chapter. My eldest is off to big school. To say I have mixed emotions is an understatement.
I'm nervous, excited, worried, proud and every other emotion you can think of. And that's just me... imagine our little ones! I've reworked my whole working situation so I can be there to walk him to school every day, to be there when he comes home, to go through his homework of an afternoon and take him to music and sport activities, moments that I'm definitely looking forward to – but it is all coming so fast. When did they grow up?
To all the new parents in the same boat, I'll be thinking of you. Good luck saying goodbye on that first day. If I've learnt anything from the experts – keep it together in front of your new starter. Hold back those tears just until they're out of sight.
To help us navigate this time, Kate Adams from Collins Booksellers Thirroul shares her top reads for for new Kindergarten students below. We also feature Susanna Heiskanen, of The Nordic Mum, who discusses a different approach to life and parenting, 3 parks with cycleways, thanks to Michelle Barry of Healthy Cities Illawarra, and finally, a delicious Cashew & Chia Bircher with Strawberry Sauce recipe from Livelifood's Florencia Martinez.
Be safe and I'll see you out there.
