Help shape road and transport network at 5 pop-up sessions
The NSW Government is rolling out Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plans
19/01/2026: News from Transport for NSW
There are still three weeks remaining for people who live, work or play in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven communities to have their say on a draft blueprint for the region’s future road and transport network.
The NSW Government is rolling out Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plans to meet the evolving transport needs of regional communities and guide future government investment decision making.
Transport for NSW Executive Director, Partnerships and Integration South, Cassandra Ffrench, said the Draft Illawarra Shoalhaven Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan is now on public exhibition, and the community is invited to share their views before Monday 9 February 2026.
“Building on previous strategic plans, the plans focus on delivering integrated, long-term solutions that will drive economic growth, improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life for residents in each region,” Ms Ffrench said.
“If you live, work or regularly visit the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, we want to know which actions matter most to you and what else should be considered.”
Ms Ffrench said the Draft Plan sets out practical steps to make the transport network more connected, safer and accessible.
“Feedback received during consultation will help guide the priorities and actions in the Final Plan, and provide valuable insights into local transport needs,” Ms Ffrench said.
“By identifying actions the government can take to improve transport options in line with future population growth and projected demographic changes, the Draft Plan presents potential short, medium and long-term progress opportunities for the community to consider.”
Ms Ffrench said the response has already been strong from people who have submitted feedback online.
“Respondents have already highlighted the importance of safe travel for all and better access to transport services as key objectives,” Ms Ffrench said.
“Top priorities and themes emerging from feedback include calls for more frequent and reliable public transport services, safer roads, improved congestion on key routes and better active transport connectivity.”
Feedback can be provided through the online survey at haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/sritp/Illawarra-shoalhaven via email at engage.sritps@transport.nsw.gov.au before 12pm on Monday 9 February 2026.
