Hey, Tuesday readers
Hey, Tuesday readers, If you remember when the World Scout Jamboree came to town in January 1988, you might be able to picture the seas of thousands that took to Thirroul Beach for the Great Aussie Surf Carnival – the biggest event in Thirroul...
In January 1988, Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club staged the biggest surf carnival ever held in Australia: the Great Aussie Surf Carnival, as part of the World Scout Jamboree.
On January 8, 2023, the carnival’s 35th anniversary, Thirroul SLSC Life Member Ross Taylor will officially launch a book called Is the Impossible Possible?, which recounts the story of the collaborative effort that made the day such a success.
In today's newsletter, I share the story behind the book.
I also introduce you to Cooper Palmer, a 14-year-old surfer from the northern Illawarra who has launched his own clothing label, Surfing Is My Coffee. Hear about his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the surf, and how you can get your hands on his merch before Christmas.
Finally, this week’s Beach of the Week is Thirroul. Read on to find out what you need to know about the popular weekend spot, thanks to Thirroul SLSC President John Dryden.
The Tuesday newsletter will be back on January 17. Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy your summer break!
Catch you next month,
