Illawarra women celebrate at Day of Dance + Culture
More than 300 women attended the second Illawarra Women’s Day of Dance and Culture on 5 March at Edmund Rice College.

More than 300 women attended the second Illawarra Women’s Day of Dance and Culture on 5 March at Edmund Rice College.
The celebration of women and culture was opened with a Welcome to Country by Aunty Jodi Edwards, followed by Joyful Conversations, a panel discussion with Isabella Hasna, Nyan Thit Thieu and Karan Taylor, facilitated by Margaret Biggs. After a JJs Indian lunch, there were performances by Rosemary and the African dance group, Bollywood by the Nachle Dance School and Let Us Dance. After which, many women and children got up to dance.
"It was amazing to have so many strong women in one room. Djeera (Mt Keira) is also an important meeting place for our First Nations women, so it was great to share their history, and dance the day away," says MCCI Volunteer Coordinator Emily Hall.
We delivered this event in partnership between Healthy Cities Illawarra, Catholic Diocese of Wollongong, Catholic Women’s League and Edmund Rice College. Thank you to all volunteers who helped in organising this event and provided support on the day.
